Under 11's Away at Daventry- 27th January 08
The under 11's travelled to Daventry for two games.

Bugbrooke 12-14 Harbury

A spirited performance from the badgers with an exciting match with both sides evenly matched.

The first half saw both sides score try's with Dan Martins finishing a strong passing move. Bugbrooke failed to convert so the half-time scoreline of 5-7 was in favour of our opponents.

Early in the 2nd half badgers were unfortunate not to be awarded a try and from the resulting phase of play, Harbury punished us with a converted try.

A thrilling run from Jake Howard saw Bugbrooke earn their 2nd try (converted by Joe Elliott) but late pressure was enough to win the match.

Bugbrooke RUFC Minis U10s - 10th December 2006
Bugrooke U10s traveled to Northampton and played 4 games against the Northampton Old Scouts.

Old Scouts : 3
Bugbrooke : 1
About one minute into the game a poor Bugbrooke pass lead to Old Scouts opening try and the only one in the first half. From there the game settled down into a hard slog with neither team’s forwards giving much away.
Bugbrooke opened the second half with renewed vigour. Their efforts paid off with a try from Adam Croutear. However, the Old Scouts fought back hard and got a try for their trouble. Late on in the game Old Scouts ran in a third from a penalty set piece. The evenness of the play wasn’t reflected in the 3:1 final score

Old Scouts : 7
Bugbrooke : 0

Bugbrooke held out against a strong Old Scouts for most of the first half. However, once the defence was broken the Scouts ran in 4 trys in 3 minutes.
The Old Scouts continued their scoring run from the start of the second half. Although Bugbrooke defended well the home side managed to score twice more.

Old Scouts : 8
Bugbrooke : 0

The third game was more of the same. Bugbrooke defended well but were overpowered by a strong Old Scouts side. Three trys scored in the first half and five scored in the second.

Old Scouts : 1
Bugbrooke : 0
The last game was a close, hard fought affair similar to the first. Neither team could break the dead-lock until seconds before the end of the first half. From a 5 metre scrum the Scouts drove over the Bugbrookes line to get the first and only try of the game.
Determined Bugbrooke wouldn’t give in and kept possession well. However, the Badgers couldn’t find a way to the try line. Bugbrooke played well and only narrowly defeated.

Under 12's - Kettering and Long Buckby
Sunday 26th November

Match 1: Bugbrooke 7 v Kettering 0

Bugbrooke faced a difficult opposition but came out hard and produced
some excellent Rugby. Strong tackles from Sam East, Chris Berridge and
Peter Austin kept Bugbrooke in the game. Some more good defending,
notably by Callum Ogden and Jordan Hamer prevented Kettering taking a
lead. Bugbrooke had more posession in the second half and two near
misses by Dan Ponder and Julian arrowsmith spurred them on. Eventually Joel Martin fed Courtney raymond a perfect ball and Raymond ran it over. Hamer converted.

Match 2: Bugbrooke 26 v Long Buckby 0

A fired up Bugbrooke came out of the blocks quickly and the backs
moved the ball round well. Steven Gill, Matt Smart and Dylan Forbes
made up lots of ground but it was Toby Hunt who drove over 2 tries and
capitalised from a mistake for a third. The forwards recycled well
with Tommy, Jordan and Joseph giving the backs some good chances. The backs capitalised on this and Ben Stobart ran over an excellent fourth try. Peter Austin converted 3/4. MOM: Sam East.

MATCH REPORTS FOR 26th NOVEMBER 2006
Bugbrooke U8s at home

Bugbrooke Vs Long Buckby (5-7)

Sloppy defence gave Long Buckby early advantage. Badgers fought back to make it a close contest, only for Buckby to steal the win within the dying seconds of the game. It was a good team effort by the Badgers with Dillon, Dan, Brody, and Matt (2) all capitalising on good passing moves to run in tries. The pick of the bunch was Brody’s who exploited Dan’s penetrating run against Buckby’s solid defence to provide a great lay off to Brody to run in a well deserved try.

Budbrooke Vs Kettering (2 – 3)

Bugbrooke spent long periods of the game dominating possession and were unfortunate not to secure their first win of the season. Badgers took an early lead thanks to a well worked try by Tom. Brody added a second with a sole run. Badgers were solid and determined in defence and looked the better team on the day However, Kettering patience and some clever individual footwork allowed three tries to be run in for the away win.

Budbrooke Vs Long Buckby (4 – 6) 2nd Game

An entertaining game with both teams conceding early tries. Bugbrookes attacking play was excellent with four tries coming from good team work and solid hands allowing Robert, Dan (2) and Dillon to all run in tries for the home team However, Buckby took the initiative to the Badgers, making continual probing runs against Badgers defence, and were rewarded with their second win of the day.

As soon as the whistle blew Oundle ran straight through to get the first try of the game. The second half started with more of the same tight forward play. But Oundle broke through again to get their third. On the re-start Sam Shouler made a driving run to the Oundle line. He was denied a try but passed to Joe Elliot for the touch down. Minutes later Oundle ran in their fourth. Just before the final whistle Gavin Hyde scored Bugbrooke’s third try. A tight game. Bugbrooke unlucky to be beaten.

Oundle : 1

Cameron Young opened the second half with a great run and a try. Jack Andrews made a strong run to get the 7th. Minutes later a driving maul from Bugbrooke released the ball to Cameron Young who stuck in at the corner flag for Bugbrooke’s 8th. Following effective Bugbrooke rucking Liam Wood picked up well and scored. To finish things off Cameron Young ran in his 4th, Bugbrookes 10th.

Oundle : 2
Bugbrooke : 2

The final game was a hard fought affair, much like the first game with excellent rucking and mauling and text book tackling from both sides. However, Oundle made a surprise run just before the half time whistle and scored.
Not long into the second half Liam Wood ripped the ball out of a maul and made a spirited run to the line to get Bugbrooke on the score sheet. On the re-start Oundle made a driving run through Bugbrooke defence and scored. Following an incident Bugbrooke got a penalty 5m from the Oundle line. Bugrooke U10s traveled to Towcester.

Towcestrians : 1
Bugbrooke : 4

Bugbrooke immediately showed they were a match for a strong Towcester side. A driving Bugbrooke maul released the ball via James Foster to Joe Barringham who scored at the corner flag. It wasn’t long before the Badgers had the ball over the line again and Adam Croutear made the touch-down this time. The last try of the half came from Daniel martins who made a charging run from deep in the Bugbrooke half.
Not long into the second half and Joe Elliot cut through the Towcester defense to get Bugbrooke’s fourth. In the dying minutes Towcester managed to get a try to finish the score at 4:1 in favour of the visitors.

Towcestrians : 7
Bugbrooke : 0

Bugbrooke didn’t fair so well in the second game. Although defending gallantly, Towcester were too strong and ran in seven tries.

Towcestrians : 4
Bugbrooke : 2

Towcester wasted no time in scoring straight from the start. Budgbrooke knuckled down and fought a hard rucking and mauling game until Joe Elliot made a break to the try line and levelled the score.
The second half saw more of the same until Towcester saw a gap and scored. Minutes later the Tows got their third. However, Bugbrooke weren’t for giving up and made a driving maul deep into the Towcester half, released the ball to Joe Elliot who got his and the teams second of the game. Before the final whistle Towcester got their fourth.

MATCH REPORTS for SUNDAY 29th OCTOBER 2006

Bugbrooke RUFC Minis U10s - 29th October 2006 at Brackley.

Bugbrooke : 0 Brackley : 4

An average performance by Bugbrooke allowed a sharp Brackley side to make a convincing win.
Despite sometimes-spirited defence by the Badgers, Brackley pressure paid off in the first half with two tries.
Two further scores followed for the home side in the second half and although Joe Elliot and Jack McGuinness looked menacing on the attack, a Bugbrooke try never looked likely.

Bugbrooke : 0 Brackley : 4

Bugbrooke started the second game showing much more determination. Excellent mauling and rucking from the whole Bugbrooke side restricted Brackley to around the halfway line.
However, a momentary lapse of concentration allowed Brackley to make a dash for the line and score the first try. Later Brackley drove over the line but a gallant Bugbrooke denied Brackley the touch down.

At the half time whistle Brackley snuck in a second at the corner flag.
The second half saw the same even play but Bugbrooke couldn’t find the try line.
Before the end of the game the home side’s superior weight paid dividends as Bugbrooke were driven over their line twice. The attackers scored on each occasion. The final score didn’t reflect Bugbrooke’s
excellent play.

MATCH REPORTS for SUNDAY 8TH OCTOBER 2006

BRUFC U13s

Bugbroke 5 Ons 10

Both sides failed to play with any fluency in the early stages with handling errors causing the game to stop and start.
Ons started to move the ball around without causing Bugs defense to many anxious moments. Bugs really struggled to use the ball provided by the heavier pack turning over far to much
possession.
Towards the end of the first half Bugs press the Ons line with Callum Mayer scoring with the last play of the first half.

The second half saw better rugby played by both sides although the Bugs penalty count was causing them to lose some very promising attacking positions allowing Ons flowing rugby to open up gaps in the

Bugs defense.
Ons pressure finally told when they scored under the post to level the scores at five all a second well worked try saw Ons take a lead they defended until the final whistle.

anything but. Brackley were strong in defence but Bugs did find some breaks and

Dunstablians 12 Bugbrooke 5

If ever there was a game of two halves this was it. Bugs were made to defend for
most of the first half soaking up attack after attack but very nearly opened the
scoring against the run of play with a breakaway that they failed to ground.

As the first half drew to close a fine move by Dunstable opened up the Bugs
defence to score a good try which was well converted.Bugs lost concentration and
almost from the restart conceded again to turn around 12 nil down.

The second half was a complete reversal with Bugs playing almost the whole
second half on the attack.Dunstable defended very strongly and only allowed a
consolation try in the dying seconds from Jordan Smith.Despite superb
performances from Callum Mayer,Jake Springthorpe, Jordan Smith and a m.o.m
performance from Matthew Smith Bugs came up short. A great game played in a good
spirit.

Bugbrooke U11s travelled to Belper, Derbyshire on the weekend of the 4thMay for their ‘2008 Tour’.
They played teams from Belper and Ilkeston and in true rugby tradition, supplied some players for a Barbarian side. During the tournament the Barbarians showed both Bugbrooke and Belper how to play and came through as the eventual winners. The Barbarians from Bugbrooke RUFC should be rightly proud of themselves. Following the Tournament there was the small matter of the ‘Belper Cup’ to be decided between Bugbrooke and Belper. A very hard fought game ensued with Bugbrooke emerging as the eventual winners, to the delight of the travelling fans. A great weekend was had by all.
